Before uploading your site, a single page or another site, you should fill in the following fields designed to gather your input information:
Host Here you should enter the name of your site server (e.g., ftp.InternetServiceProvider.com).
FTP Port Enter the number of a port to connect (usually 21).
Path Enter the path to a subdirectory on your web site where to place these web pages.
For example:
/usr/local/etc/httpd/htdocs/directory1/directory2
No trailing slash is required. If you're not sure of the path to your server, please ask your web hosting provider for this information.
Username Enter your USER NAME for your web server, this information coming from your web hosting provider.
Password Enter your PASSWORD for your web server, this information coming from your web hosting provider. .
Above mentioned information is to be sent to you when you are first setup your domain or web server.
Binary Use "binary" as a transfer mode to transfer images with extentions ending with BMP, JPG, GIF etc. "Ascii" is right and works well for TXT or HTML files. If your web server or domain is located on a Windows or Windows NT system, then you can transfer all files using "binary" .
Passive Certain ftp servers support both active and passive transfers while other ftp servers only allow active transfers. In some cases passive mode may be required for users whose access is blocked by some types of router-based firewalls or a gateway requiring passive transfers. If you find that you are having troubles uploading your Doorway pages please contact you Hosting company to see what might be causing the problems that you may experience.
For users that have already created other projects that upload to the same web server, FTP Settings can be imported from these project by pressing the Populate from project button at the top panel.
Choose Here you can choose what to upload a file or a directory. To upload a file choose File , to upload a directory choose Directory.
File/Directory to upload Enter the path to the file or directory you want to upload. You can choose a file or directory by means of standard dialogues for selecting a file, directory being chosen by pressing the Browse button.
At the bottom three is an area reserved for an of upload error notification, which could be cleared manually with the Clear button below.
By pressing the Upload button at the top panel the chosen file or directory will be uploaded to the given server. To terminate uploading press the Abort button at the top panel.
The FTP server connection status is shown in the Status bar during the upload.
You can also use the wizard by pressing the Wizard button on the top panel.
